Caption, Share, Win: Terms & Conditions

  1. The ‘Caption, Share, Win’ contest is open only to students of schools. If, at any stage, it is found that the participant does not fulfill this basic criteria, his entry will be disqualified.
  2. Students across all classes can participate.
  3. Participants have to be students of schools within the geographic boundary of India. If a student from outside of this defined territory participates, he/she will not be eligible to win.
  4. Student should enter the full name (and not acronym) and area of the school for being considered as a valid entry. Students are also required to ensure that there is no spelling error while entering their school name, area or city.
  5. There is no fee for participation.
  6. Students can caption each of the eight pictures provided just once. Captions, once put, cannot be changed.
  7. To ask their friends and family to vote for their caption, students are encouraged to share their caption entry on their social media handles or request their parents to share on social media using #TheTimesofaBetterIndia. They can also request for voting by directly sharing the links to their caption entry with others.
  8. All voting for captions has to happen on the website www.timesofabetterindia.com. Upvoting on social media will not be considered valid.
  9. A person can vote just once for one caption. A person can vote separately for captions on different pictures.
  10. The above geographic limitation does not apply to voters – those voting for captions can be anywhere in the world.
  11. Winners will be decided by the number of votes received by the captions.
  12. If a student captions multiple pictures, the votes received by all of them will not be added to decide the winners. The winners will be decided only by the number of votes given to individual captions.
  13. In case of a tie between the number of votes received by multiple captions, editors of The Times of India will decide on the winning entry.
  14. The contest aims to reward 200 individual students. One student who wins will not be given a second prize.
  15. All personal and school information given by the participants at the time of caption submission will remain entirely confidential.
  16. Captions should be in English language only. Caption entry in any other language will be disqualified.
  17. While captioning, participants are cautioned to use proper language only – any entry containing or implying abusive or inappropriate language will be disqualified.
  18. All captions received for the contest will be the property of Bennett, Coleman and Co Ltd. (BCCL).
  19. By participating in the contest, all participants agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the contest.
  20. The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all participants and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  21. Participants will be solely responsible for any expenses incurred in participating in the contest or in the acceptance and use of the prizes.
  22. Employees of BCCL, TIL, sponsors, Leo Digital, the Social Lab and other associated agencies and their immediate families and relatives are not eligible to participate in the contest.
  23. BCCL shall not be responsible for any loss or damages suffered by the winner while participating in the contest. All disputes shall be subject to jurisdiction of Delhi Courts only.
  24. Any prizes given for the contest winners will not be exchanged for their value in cash or for other prizes.
  25. BCCL reserves the right to modify, cancel, discontinue, or terminate the contest at any time or to accept or reject any or call entries at their absolute discretion without giving any prior notice and without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
