I live in Nandurbar, a district in Maharashtra. I happened to meet the District Collector Dr. Rajendra Bharhud and was inspired by his journey and how he is contributing back to the district he was born. Born to a single mother who sold liquor to run the household. He was incline to studies since childhood and use to buy books via tips from liquor customers. Instead of pursuing a regular path, he sat for UPSC exams and cleared it in the very first attempt during his medical internship. After a series of postings, he gets posted as the officer in charge of Nandurbar – the same district he was born in.

As DC of Nandurbar, Dr. Rajendra is now responsible for the life and well-being of 1.6 mn people in a district. He uses his medical knowledge to great effect and during COVID-19 ensured his place has an adequate supply of medical oxygen, hospital beds and isolation wards for patients and a well-planned vaccination drive. His story is one of those people who used their learnings to help the country.
